TT 16 August 2013: 1968
Dear Rock n Rollers, In 1968 Richard Nixon was elected US President, the Tet Offensive was a turning point in the Viet Nam War and young people around the world were 'Turning on, tuning in and dropping out' in the words of Timothy Leary. This is also the year featured in this radio show. Remember 'Love is Blue' by Paul Mauriat? Feeling Alright by Traffic? Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf?Revolution by the Beatles? I also included some songs which received less airplay in 1968, like Last Hopes' Gone from Paul Butterfield, or Way Behind the Sun from Pentangle. Enjoy! TT 05 June 2013: What'd I Say?
Dear Rock 'n' Rollers,
What would I say? How about Ray Charles....listen to this great opening song from recorded during an improvisation one night in 1959. I then let my mind wander over the 60s and 70's and chose some accompanying tunes from the Hollies, The Who, Stones, Velvet Underground and Hendrix.... Enjoy!

TT 05 April 2013: Tattoo You
Dear Rock n Rollers,
I have always had a weak spot in my heart for "Tatoo You", the Stones' 1981 LP. I was skeptical at first, as this was the follow up to Emotional Rescue, but over time, I definitely think this is one of the RS's better post "Exile" pieces of work. In fact, most of the tracks came from the early to mid 70's and were only 're-discoved' when Jagger/Richards needed a new LP to back their 81/82 Tour. I particularly like the ballads on side two, though Start Me Up still makes me get up and dance. Black Limousine is also a great track. Enjoy these selections from TY and other friends who produced music at the same time.

Dear Rock n Rollers,
As I received Neil Young's "Waging Heavy Peace" for Christmas, I thought I would spin some tunes from his early period: from Buffalo Springfield through CSNY to his solo material. Not for the faint-of-hearted, this show demonstrates Neil's songwriting ability, featuring his commentary on political topics (racism, drug use) and emotional, spiritual and psychological quandries. Heavy but good. Enjoy!
