Dear Rock n Rollers,
Still stuck on Led Zep....I found the original version of Gallow's Pole by Lead Belly (1888-1949) and his 12 string guitar. I like both the original and the LZ version, particularly as it evolves into a 'stomp' halfway through the tune. I also include some John Lennon ( Yer Blues-co authored by PMc) and Cold Turkey, along with Paul's Medicine Jar. The rest is mainly blues , beginning with Melissa and finishing off with some early Dylan and Blind Faith. Enjoy!

TT 02 November 2012: Nick Drake
Dear Rock n Rollers,
Nick Drake (1948-74) made three albums in his short career before sinking into deep depression and ending his life with a drug overdose. The music didn't sell at the time, but his influence has waxed over time. This set is not happy, happy, but is beautiful at the same time. I take songs from each of Drake's LPs and mixed it with Young, Velvet, Bowie, Cat Stevens and Pentagle. Heavy but good.

Dear Rock n Rollers,
Reading an article about the Bowie exhibition in London inspired this show. I've always loved 'chant of the ever circling skeletal' from Diamon Dogs. Though only 2 minutes long and obviously improvised, it is cool and hip. Sticking with Bowie, I then picked some tracks from DD and the following 5 lps...all from the 70s. Enjoy!

Dear Rock n Rollers,
Sadly, Scott McKenzie died last Saturday. Back in 1967, he recorded 'San Francisco (be sure to put flowers in your hair)', released in May of that year. I am sure you will enjoy this set!

TT 02 March 2012: Early Pink Floyd
Dear Rock n Rollers,
Driving back from Provence this weekend, I put my ipod on Pink Floyd (shuffle) and I came across some lovely tracks from the early days (with and without Syd Barrett). Here is a sampling of music from 1967(Piper at the Gates of Dawn) until 1973 (Dark Side of the Moon), which I think you will appreciate. Prepare yourselves for a mellow and trippy show!

TT 03 February 2012: Doobie Brothers
Dear Rock n Rollers,
Remember the Doobie Brothers? This band from the Bay area hung out with the Hells' Angels in the Santa Cruz Mountains before striking it big with 'Listen to the Music' in 1971. The band then morphed into Jazz rock (eg Takin it to the Streets) with the introduction of Steeley Dan's guitarist, Skunk Baxter. During this show, we will showcase the Bros along with a few of their friends. ...Enjoy!
